The first Teerenpeli Brewery was founded in May 1995 in Restaurant Teerenpeli in Lahti. Our beers have won Gold Medals at the Helsinki Beer Festival (The best microbrewery beer in Finland) in 2001, 2002 and silver in 2006.

The new Brewery and Distillery was opened in August 2002 in Restaurant Taivaanranta. The brewhouse is beautifully situated in the dinig room. Fermentation department and distilling equipment are in the cellar together with the visitors' center.

The Brewery

The Brewery is capable of producing 1,700 litres per brew, with an annual capacity in the region of 200,000 litres . We now produce two ciders, ten different beers and Finnish malt whisky.

We have been importing and double-maturing malt whisky since 2000, but have now started production of our own single malt whisky here in Lahti, using the traditional Scotch Whisky distilling equipment and methods, but with Finnish malt and Finnish water as ingredients.

The Distillery

The Distillery is the traditional pot-still distillery, and the alcohol produced will be matured in oak casks for at least three years, as required by law. However to produce malt whisky of higher quality, it is envisaged that a total maturation period of 8-20 years is more appropriate. Annual production capacity is in the region of 15,000 litres/year.

Brewery and Distillery tours

The main Brewing vessels are in the Bar area, The Fermenting process, the Whisky Distillery, and Visitors’ Centre are housed in the Cellar area below.

Special tours are available for groups by appointment. It is also possible to eat, buffet-style, in the Visitors’Centre.

Tours cost 10 Euros and include tastings of our own products.

Sale of casked new Whisky

Casks of Teerenpeli new malt whisky can be purchased by corporate groups, or by private individuals.

Casks contain 100 - 250 litres 63.5% proof by volume. The alcohol tax is payable on removal from the warehouse. Ask for an offer.

The cost includes warehousing and insurance for 10 years. The maturing whisky is kept for this period in the Cellar warehouse area beside the Distillery.
